- The Occupational Safety & Health Administration gives guidance on many issue related to safety and health issues in the workplace.
- In certain cases, OSHA mandates that employees and/or employers have certified training for specific workers in certain industries.
- OSHA certified training must be given by the main OSHA training institute or via OSHA Institute Education Centers designated Individuals can become certified trainers for certain OSHA courses via the Outreach Training program-
- Upon successful completion of this program, the trainer can teach specific courses.

- The state requires the contractor (or subcontractor) to furnish documentation of the successful completion of the OSHA Ten hr program for each employee.
Employees need to submit valid proof of completion for their training. This includes proof in any of the following form:
- Training roster, attendance record from the trainer pending the issuance of card
New Hampshire
- The state requires any person signing a contract to work on a state construction project including demolition, remodeling and maintenance with a total project cost of $100,000 to provide an OSHA 10-hour safety program for all his onsite workers.
- The OSHA 10 hr program must use an Occupational Safety and Health approved curriculum.
- Graduates of the 10-hour safety program receive a card certifying the successful completion of the program
- All onsite workers must complete the OSHA10hr safety program before beginning work on the project.
Rhode Island
- The state requires any contractor signing a contract to work on a state or municipal construction project with a total project cost of at least $100,000 to provide an Occupational Safety and Health 10 hr safety program for all his onsite workers.
- All onsite workers must complete the OSHA 10 hour program before beginning any work on the project.
- The OSHA 10 hour program must use an OSHA-approved curriculum.
- Graduates of the OSHA 10 hourprogram receive a ccourse completion card certifying the successful completion of the program.
Massachusetts
- The state requires all employees working on a public construction site to have completed an Occupational Safety and Health Admin Ten hr safety & health program.
- All workers must complete the OSHA10 hour safety/health program before beginning work on the project.
- contractor is required to furnish documentation of the successful completion of the 10 hour safety &health program with the1st certified payroll report for each employee.
- The state requires a trainer to display his/her trainer card in a conspicuous manner at each location where the trainer provides an OSHA Ten -hour course or 30 hour course.
- No person other than a trainer can provide an OSHA 10 or 30 hour course.
Missouri
- Employees must cover 10 hours of training in construction safety and health training within sixty days of beginning work on a construction project.
- The state requires any person signing a contract to work on the construction of public works for a public body to provide an OSHA 10-hour safety program for all his onsite workers.
Connecticut
- The state of CT requires all contractors and subcontractors signing a contract to work on any public building project with a total project cost of at least $100,000 to provide proof that all their workers doing manual labor have completed an OSHA 10 (TEN) hour course.
- All on-site workers must complete the TEN-hr program before beginning work on the project.
- The 10 hr course must be conducted according to ,OSHA Training Institute standards,29 CFR 1926 (Construction),or the 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) and/or where appropriate.
- Students completing the 10 hr safety program receive a card from OSHA Training Institute certifying the successful completion
Upon completion of the course, students will receive a 10 hr Occupational Safety/Health Administration DOL Construction or Gen Indus Safety Certification Training card within 6-8 weeks.
